Principles - How They Work

The whole wheat grains in our Wheat Bags contain a small amount of moisture which allows them to be heated in a microwave oven for 'Heat Therapy' and to be chilled in a freezer for 'Chill Therapy'

The wheat is enclosed in a cotton bag which is sealed and then placed inside a cotton outer cover. The outer cover may be removed for laundering.

As the Wheat bags are heated in the microwave the moisture in the wheat gives off steam. When the Wheat Bags are new or seldom used, the fabric will feel slightly damp. After a couple of minutes the steam evaporates and the 'damp' feeling will diminish. Wheat Pouch Designs' Therapeutic Wheat Bags are all produced using 100% cotton fabric to enable the natural fibres to absorb the moisture. We do not use synthetic fleeces as when they are heated they feel 'sweaty'. With regular use the wheat dries out and care must be taken not to dehydrate the Wheat Bag completely.
