About us
Lyn Wickham established Wheat Pouch Designs in 2006 to 'spread the word' about the benefits of using a therapeutic wheat bag as a remedy for aches and pains.
Having started her working life in 1971 as a bank cashier; Lyn found her back suffered from the rigours of standing all day and lugging bullion between the tills and strong room. Life took a change in direction in 1985 when, working as crew and cook, onboard a charter boat in the Caribbean, Lyn met future hubby Roger. Life then took another turn towards building a home and garden in the Virgin Islands. Back aches, accompanied by knee trouble 'came' along with three children and 'went' when a friend introduced Lyn to the Wheat Bag she had discovered in New Zealand. Back in England by the turn of the new Millennium and never without her Wheat Bag; Lyn was running a plant nursery, tearoom and gift shop with Roger until the end of 2005 when Roger decided to devote himself to wood work - www.wildwoodartworks.co.uk and Lyn to family, home and garden.
Following the popularity of Lyn's Wheat Bags in her gift shop, she decided to set up business making a range of wheat bags, using good quality cotton fabric; designed to compliment homes, as well as other useful home accessories. Wheat Pouch Designs is now a part-time occupation throughout the year but becomes full-time for the few weeks prior to Christmas. Lyn's entire range of products are available to view by appointment at her workshop in Dunsford near Exeter and can be seen at various fairs in the South West such as the Christmas Fairs at National Trust, Killerton House and RHS Garden Rosemoor.
